The Friends of Pierce Pool believe that the Pierce College swimming pool is a valuable asset of the College and the community, providing educational, recreational, health and economic benefits for the College's students, faculty and staff, and for members of the surrounding community.
The goal of the Friends of Pierce Pool is to promote the efficient management of the pool, increase the use and revenue potential, and ensure its continued year round operation.
The Friends of Pierce Pool function as a support, advisory, watchdog and advocacy group for the pool.
The Friends of Pierce Pool was founded in 1992 after the Pierce College administration closed the pool in November and threatened to keep it closed or limit the operation of the pool due to alleged budget cuts. Due to the aggressive action of the Friends of Pierce Pool the College reopened the pool in June of 1993. While things are much better today we must remain vigilant.
Over the years the Friends of Pierce Pool have staged fund-raisers almost every year. These funds have gone towards pool maintenance and renovation for the most part.
This year's fund raiser was held on October 6, 2002 from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM the entry forms are still available in several formats if you need copies when you submit your pledges.

As of Oct. 20 we have received $3,636.00 with more pledges to come. Thanks to all. Here are some pictures form the event.
The fund-raiser is an important event, and while no longer an emergency life or death of the pool event, still a way to support the pool and provide necessary funds for pool up-keep and extras that are not provided by the college in a timely manner.
